Situated about 450 kilometers from Hanoi capital city, Lai Chau province is a complex of plateaus located at the altitude of 1,500m above the sea level, including high mountains, pure streams and rivers. Being thought to have a similar weather to Sapa (Lao Cai), Lai Chau is cool and mostly foggy throughout the year, making it a visionary area in amongst mountains.

Considered as the land of Ban and Dao flowers (ban flower and blossom), the iconic ones of jungles, Lai Chau attracts and inspires thousands of artists. Yet, most of all, being the highest mountainous region of the country, the beauty of Lai Chau is made up of the high mountain ranges extending from the Northwest to the Southeast. It shares with Sapa in Lao Cai the Fansipan Mount – top of Himalaya-the highest mountain range in Vietnam. Being 3,143 meters in height, Fansipan is the highest in Vietnam as well as in the Indochina peninsula which is also called as “the roof of Indochina”. Among others, some plateaus including Sin Ho, Ta Phinh, Dao San are covered in cloud, fog, and purely cool atmosphere all year around due to the height of over 1,500m. Tours in Vietnam

Besides high mountains, Lai Chau also has a large number of narrow valleys, spectacular rivers and romantic springs. Being on board of a boat along Da River, the longest and largest river in the province, no visitors can stand keeping eyes on the very lively landscapes, specifically the roofs constructed by black stones, and cloudy mountains. The extraordinary villages of ethnic minorities on the two banks of the river are making it picturesque scenery. For those interested in health-care activities, many hot and mineral water springs spotting in the province such as Na Dong, Na Don (Tam Duong), Van Bo and some other hydroelectricity lakes are worth visiting.

Do you believe that the caves and grottoes in the mountain ranges in the area are still in their original conditions, such as Binh Lu and Tien Son grottoes, which are definitely the mysterious beauties of nature! All of them are really beautiful with twinkle brightness and stalactites and stalagmites in various shapes. Thanks to this exceptional scenery, this region is considered as “Phong Nha Grotto of the Northwest”.
