The 32-meter high, 10-meter wide standing Buddha referred to as Luang Pho To or “Phra Si Ariyamettrai” (Maitreya) is the symbol of Wat Intharaviharn. Started in 1867, the construction of this image was not completed until 1927 during the reigns of King Rama IV and King Rama VII. The topknot and forehead of the image which contains relics of the Lord Buddha brought from Sri Lanka are covered with gold leaf placed by the current royal family.
